ALL ABOUT INTERNSHIPS

Internships for students, How it helps, where these internships available, etc answered in this article.

2  Do you know Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk and many other started out a career as interns in other companies before they created their massive tech world.

1.   What is an INTERNSHIP?

A.      The position of a student or trainee who works in an organization, sometimes without pay, in order to gain work experience or satisfy requirements for qualifications.

2.      How an INTERNSHIP helps?

A.      The government of India has recently made it mandatory for students to do at least three internships in their course period only reason is to make graduates more employable. It has been a compulsion in many countries from decades back. It is an opportunity which helps to set the foundation for your career. You will learn more about field or industry practice. Having one or more internship experience is an added advantage to your profile and this makes you more employable. Most of the companies offer you full-time positions (Pre-Placement Offer) if your performance is impressive while working as an intern. You can gain industry experience and able to work with industry experts get suggested from them for your bright career.

3.   When did I can apply for internships?

A.      It depends. Most of the companies call for interns when the applicants are in their course studying time. There are many other internships also offered to fresh graduates who are just completed their course. To those who are studying 4 years of UG degree, usually, most of the students apply for internships during their summer vacation time which comes immediately after their third year's exams finished. There is no hard and fast rule to apply at that time, there are many others who also apply for internships in their summer vacation which comes after 2nd-year exams finished. As you have a good understanding over your enrolled course and most of your core subjects finished after 3rd year, it is suggested to do an internship in that period so that you have a good idea on the works that you will come across during the internship period. If you are a fresh graduate you to have opportunities and most of it comes with Pre-Placement Offer. But remember you must start looking for internships in the web at least from 4 months before your summer vacation actually starts & apply for it based on the deadline.

4.       What kind of internships available?

A.      All are Work-Specific. As like the kind of job you will get after your course completion, the same kind of job here offered as an internship for you. If you are studying CSE, you have internship opportunities related to that, like web development, software development, mobile app developer, PHP, Android, Networking, many other etc. If you are a journalism student, you have internships related to that. If you are an MBA graduate your internship responsibilities are manager related. Whatever is the course you pursuing the internships available in connection with that particular course.

5.       Which companies offering Internship?

A.      There are internships offerings from the top MNC’s to Local Companies and From Local Govt. departments to the Public sector undertakings like HPCL, ONGC, BHEL, SAIL, ECIL, etc offers. IIT’s, IIM’s & other Institutes, a Research organization in India and other premier institutes all over the world offer internships.  If you see, Largest IT company of India, TCS offering Global Internship Program for UG, PG, and Ph. D students. As like, Google, L&T, GE, OYO, UBER, NITI AYOG, YES Bank, ADOBE, FB, MICROSOFT, Reliance, PepsiCo, it adds on……like this many other provide the internship.

6.       Where all these internships announced?

A.      MNC’s Companies and other big scale company’s internship vacancies published on the respective company website and some in LINKEDIN but there are few vacancies and the competition is very high there. Only Very few will get the opportunity. But all those are less than less than 0.05%. There are lots of internships in thousands of other companies available. It is highly recommended to consider Internshala, most the companies in India use Internshala(www.Internshala.com) for recruiting interns. Internshala also gives updates on internships available with other companies who don’t use their platform. You will have thousands and thousands of internships available courses wise over there in all over India and some with foreign countries. You can also check in all job portals and LINKEDIN is also a good source. You can better Google it for internships. Use all the ways till you got selected for the right one. I recommends Internshala since the opportunities are more so the chances will be more

7.      Stipend, Certificate, Time period of internship, selection criteria etc.?

 A.      Almost all the internships included with stipend but few other not. Stipend and other perks depend and indicated on the notification. Time period usually ranges from a minimum of 4 weeks to maximum of 3 months for college goers usually student favored and adjusted. For fresh graduates also it is minimum 4 weeks maximum of 6 months or more. For college gore, selection criteria would mostly previous semesters aggregate and +2, S.S.C marks sometimes and common is your communication skills. Resume of Individual even for college gore plays a vital role so one should keep it in mind.
